Recording Consent Policy:

The Story Studio

Purpose

At The Story Studio, we are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and high-quality learning environment for all participants. To help achieve this, online Zoom sessions may be recorded for safeguarding, professional, and educational purposes.

By enrolling in an online workshop or course, participants (or the parent/legal guardian of participants under 18 years of age) acknowledge and consent to the recording of online sessions in accordance with this policy.

Why We Record Sessions

Recordings may be used to:

  • Safeguard both participants and The Story Studio.

  • Maintain a professional record of online sessions.

  • Review workshops to improve teaching quality and content.

  • Assist in providing accurate feedback on participants' writing.

  • Support staff training and professional development (where applicable).

How Recordings Are Stored

Recordings are stored securely and are only accessible to authorised representatives of The Story Studio.

Reasonable steps are taken to protect recordings from unauthorised access, disclosure, or misuse.

How Recordings Will Not Be Used

Recordings will not be:

  • shared publicly;

  • uploaded to social media;

  • used in advertising or promotional material;

  • shared with third parties,

unless separate written consent has been obtained from the participant or, where applicable, their parent or legal guardian.

Student Writing

The Story Studio may wish to showcase examples of student work to demonstrate learning outcomes and the types of activities offered.

Where permission has been granted, anonymised excerpts of participant writing or photographs of written work may be used for promotional or educational purposes. No names or identifying information will be included without additional written consent.

Access to Recordings

Participants and parents should not record workshops without prior permission from The Story Studio.

The Story Studio reserves the right to determine whether recordings will be made available to participants.

Withdrawal of Consent

Parents or participants may withdraw consent for future recordings by notifying The Story Studio in writing. Withdrawal of consent will apply to future sessions and will not affect recordings made prior to the request.

Please note that if recording forms an essential part of The Story Studio's safeguarding practices, withdrawal of consent may affect a participant's ability to attend online sessions. Alternative arrangements will be discussed where reasonably possible.
